Ann Ardis (B.A. University of Kansas; M.A., Ph.D. University of Virginia) is the
author of New Women, New Novels: Feminism and Early Modernism (Rutgers
University Press, 1990) and Modernism and Cultural Conflict, 1880-1922 (Cambridge UP, 2002). She is also co-editor (with Leslie Lewis) of Women's Experience of Modernity, 1875-1945 (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2002) and co-editor (with Bonnie Kime Scott) of Virginia Woolf Turning the Century: Selected Papers from the Ninth Annual Conference on Virginia Woolf (Pace
University Press, 2000). She has contributed essays to collections such as The New Woman:Gendering the Fin de Siecle,Outside Modernism, New Approaches to British Aestheticism, Victorian Women Writers and the Woman Question, and Rereading Modernism: New Directions in Feminist Criticism, and published articles in Hypatia,Women's Studies, College Literature, and elsewhere. She offers courses in literary and cultural theory and turn-of-the-twentieth century British literature. She has served as Program Chair for the Modernist Studies Association (2003-05), MLA representative for the Late Nineteenth/Early Twentieth-Century Division (1999-2002), and Director of Graduate Studies in English (1994-98).
