Jerry Beasley is a specialist in eighteenth-century British fiction, including women's fiction. He has published more than fifty articles and seven books, and is the former General Editor of The Works of Tobias Smollett (University of Georgia Press). His most recent books are Tobias Smollett: Novelist (Georgia, 1998) and an edition of two novels by Eliza Haywood, Lasselia and the Injur'd Husband (Kentucky, 1998).
