Professor Michael Cotsell (BA, University of London ; MA, PhD, University
of Birmingham ) teaches and researches in American literature, especially
modern American drama and literature and psychology, particularly trauma
studies. He also teaches courses on African-American drama and the
African novel. He is currently working on his book, "The Theater of
Trauma: American Drama 1900-1930".
Dr Cotsell formerly researched in the British Victorian period, particularly in Dickens and in the literature of colonialism. He is the author of The Critical Companion to 'Our Mutual Friend' and Barbara Pym and editor of Dickens's Our Mutual Friend (Oxford University Press, World's Classics), Creditable Warriors: English Literature and the Wider World, 1830-76 , Critical Essays on 'Great Expectations' and Critical Essays on 'A Tale of Two Cities' .
He is a member of The International Society for the Study of Dissociation
and chairs the University Committee on Visiting Speakers. |
