Heidi Kaufman received her B.A. from Drew University, her M.A. from Boston College, and her Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire.  She held a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Oregon before coming to UD.  Her current book project, Nested Nation: England, Jewish Discourse, and the Nineteenth-Century British Novel looks at relations between racial discourse and constructions of national identity in fiction from this period.   Professor Kaufman’s research and teaching interests include studies in race, imperialism, and Jewish studies in nineteenth-century British culture.
