"Beckett on Film
19 Films x 19 Directors"
and
"Rockaby," a documentary by D. A. Pennebaker, 1982

Thursday, October 9 through Saturday, October 11, 2003
Morris Library
Class of 1941 Lecture Room

Beckett on Film: 19 Films x 19 Directors, in DVD format, brings all 19 of Samuel Beckett's stage plays to the screen, all of which were filmed in 2000. The producers attracted an intriguing selection of internationally established film directors.

Also shown will be Rockaby, a documentary featuring Billie Whitelaw in a performance showing the process of bringing this short play to the stage.

The challenges which faced each filmmaker involved with the DVD project included respecting Beckett's meticulously strict stage instructions and working within those confines.
