Since its founding in 1995, the Byron Society Collection has
received entire collections or other gifts in kind from over
one hundred individual and institutional donors. The catalogue
of the growing Byron Society Collection will reveal its many
rarities from among nearly 5,000 books and other material
objects, including manuscripts, microfilms, busts, statues,
prints, engravings, Staffordshire figures, photographs, stamps,
coins, early advertising material, and other ephemera.
Because the agreement with the
University of Delaware provides institutional support for
the operation of the Byron Society of America, the collection
has also become the repository of the Society’s archives,
including correspondence with scholars, authors, business
professionals, poets, actors, publishers, playwrights, teachers,
and collectors of all ages. The letters within the Society's
membership files often reveal how and why Byron collectors
developed and then donated their collections, in whole or
in part, to the Byron Society Collection at the University
of Delaware.
