In addition to the study of literature, the Film Studies Program enables undergraduates to pursue the study of film criticism, history, and theory. The program provides students with the tools of critical film analysis, a knowledge of the major trends in film history, an opportunity to study recognized film classics from various countries, and an introduction to influential theoretical and critical writing in the discipline. The University holdings in film scholarship and feature films have recently been expanded. The presence of an active film culture on campus is exemplified by the series of popular American films on Friday and Saturday evenings, the international film series on Sunday evenings, and frequent campus visits by filmmakers, critics, and scholars. |
