A brief summary for 1788:
Writes last will and testament, July 17, leaving bulk of estate to daughter Sarah and her family; makes smaller bequests to grandsons William Temple Franklin and Benjamin Bache; citing "the part he acted against me in the late war," leaves son William almost nothing (adds codicil, June 23, 1789, making bequests to Boston and Philadelphia). Begins writing third part of autobiography in August. Ends service as president of Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania October 14, terminating career in public office.
