INTRODUCTION

When you hear the word college, what do you think of first?  Unfortunately, most people’s answer to that question would be the word alcohol.  The use of alcohol has always been a major part of the American college tradition.  So what is wrong with that you might say?  Well, almost all-drinking college students are under the legal age of twenty-one.  Underage drinking is a major problem throughout the country, which has been very difficult to monitor and control on many college campuses.  The most common method of this underage drinking is demonstrated as binge drinking.  College fraternities and sororities serve large quantities of alcohol at parties to all kids, regardless of age, and take no responsibility for following the law.  As a result of this occurrence, universities have adopted several campaigns, grants to fight alcohol, and some colleges have even chose to go completely dry.  Some people feel that these concepts are harsh and unfair, while others think they are not strong enough.  In this following paper you will read one person’s opinion on; how drinking affects the average college student, how much they are drinking, actions taking place to stop the drinking, and the students fight on alcohol in college.
