Transfer Course Credit Information

Click here for information on ENGL 110 transfer.

The English Department assigns a UD equivalent for only ENGLISH courses, or for courses taken in other departments such as Theater or Film that approximate course offerings by the English Department. Students may obtain approval for transfer credit either before or after the course has been taken. For approval, you will need to gather and submit the following materials.

1) Transfer-Credit-Post Admissions Form. This form is available at the Student Services Building. You are to fill in all the necessary information EXCEPT for the equivalent UD course.

2) A photocopy of the course description in its official catalogue. Identify the university which offered the course. If it is available on-line, you can submit a print-out of this.

3) A course syllabus. This is not required, but it can determine whether or not a specific course equivalent gets approved.

Materials should be taken to Suzanne Potts, 210 Memorial Hall, for evaluation.

ENGLISH 110 Transfer Credit and Exemption Requests

To petition in advance of taking a course elsewhere to have that course transfer to UD as the equivalent of ENGL110, students should bring a copy of the other school's full catalogue along with the TRANSFER CREDIT-POST ADMISSION FORM (available at Student Services) to Vincent Piturro, 046 Memorial Hall.

To appeal a transfer credit award regarding ENGL110, students should submit the following items to Vincent Piturro.

1) Copies of three essays written in college courses. At least one essay (probably more than one) should be research-based with a bibliography. (Students will receive their essays back).

2) A copy of the unofficial UD transcript, which is available through UD Student Services.

3) A copy of the Transfer Credit Evaluation Sheet, which is available from students' advisors.

4) A transcript from the previous school. A catalogue from the previous school is also helpful to submit.

5) A letter giving the background and reasons for the request sent to the address below. In the letter, students should include their address, telephone number, student ID number, and their University of Delaware email address.

Questions about these procedures should be directed to Vincent Piturro using the phone number or email address listed below. E-mail is preferred.
