Colored Conventions Project Fellow
116 Memorial Hall
Denise is interested in 19th century texts(traditional and alternative) written by women of the African diaspora both slave and free that are a part of the Afro-Protestant tradition. Exploring and interrogating slavery, freedom, mobility, agency, redemption and authority she is particularly interested in the ways that these issues are explored and expressed across the trans Atlantic and come to shape and be shaped by the Black church.
