    D. Heyward Brock has taught a variety of courses (ranging from literature, to the culture of biomedicine, to ethical aspects of healthcare) at the University since 1968, during which time he has also served in several administrative posts, including Senior Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. One of the founders of the University's Master of Arts in Liberal Studies Program and several undergraduate programs, he has published widely in the fields of his interests which tend to be inter- and multi-disciplinary and has co-directed many study abroad programs in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and England, where he has also taught at the University of Essex. His books and articles cover a broad range of topics: Ben Jonson, science and culture, literature and science, literature and medicine, Renaissance literature, American literature, comparative global drama, Australian and New Zealand short fiction, and creative fiction. Under his pseudonym, he was published an autofictional novel, has written a collection of short stories, and is currently at work on an epistolary novel. His present long-term scholarly projects include a book on the doctor/healer in global drama and film and a book on Ben Jonson and science.
