    Biography

    Virginia Kennedy has taught at the high school and college levels for twenty-five years.  More recently, Virginia worked as a Director of Communications and Development and then as an Executive Director for nonprofit conservation land trusts in Pennsylvania and New York.  She has published articles and book reviews in scholarly journals and books and written for various trade publications in the conservation field. Recent articles include “Living Conservation Values: Women and Conservation Easement Protection in Central New York” in the book Gender and Forests: Climate Change, Tenure, Value Chains and Emerging Issues published by Routledge and “Native Americans, African Americans, and the Space that is America: Indian Presence in the Fiction of Toni Morrison” in the book Crossing Waters, Crossing Worlds, published by Duke University Press. She is currently writing an article on the novels of David Treuer for Not All Indians Dance:  Essays on Contemporary Indigenous Writers, an essay collection forthcoming from the University of Arizona Press.
