Dan Biddle, the Philadelphia Inquirer's former politics editor, has been an award-winning journalist for 40 years. Biddle's reporting on transgressions of justice by the Philadelphia court system not only won a Pulitzer Prize but also led to federal and state investigations. As an editor, he guided Inquirer coverage of the 2000 presidential race, including the Florida recounts; the 2012 presidential race; the 2014 Pennsylvania governor's race; the 2015 Philadelphia mayor's race; and the 2016 presidential campaign through the major parties' conventions. Before joining the Inquirer, he reported for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He has a B.A. in history from the University of Michigan and was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. He is the author, with Murray Dubin, of "Tasting Freedom: Octavius Catto and the Battle for Equality in Civil War America" (Temple University Press, 2010), which explores the life of a civil rights hero a century before Dr. Martin Luther King.
