Biography
I am a sixth-year Ph.D. candidate with West Virginia University's English department. I have enjoyed teaching undergraduates for the department for the majority of that time, everything from English composition and rhetoric, science fiction and fantasy, American pop culture, the short story and the novel, and poetry and drama. My hope is to continue teaching college-level literature and film once I have finished my Ph.D. I would especially love to work somewhere in or around the Providence, Rhode Island area, a desire that came about after a period spent there doing research at Brown University.
My favorite things to do line up with my favorite things to teach. I am an avid reader of modernist/post-modern literature, including various strands of speculative fiction (science fiction, cosmic and gothic horror and so on), post-modern philosophy, and religious theory. As a true film buff, I watch just about everything and anything cinema—from the silent era to the most current, my tastes tend to French, American and Japanese cinema and in the latter case, anime.
